From April, GPs can prescribe medicinal cannabis to their patients with intractable pain. According to the chairman of the Association of General Practitioners, Petr Šonka, this option makes sense because they can also prescribe strong opiates. However, he told ČTK that he does not expect much interest from doctors and patients right from the start. Medical cannabis has been used in the Czech Republic since 2015, with around 250 doctors prescribing it so far. Last year, 320 kilograms of it were prescribed to patients.
